Therapeutic writing can be a powerful tool to express emotions and gain insights into the self. Through engaging workshops, interactive discussions, and guided writing exercises, you'll learn various techniques, from journaling and expressive writing to the theory and practice of biblio-poetry therapy.
Whether you're a seasoned writer, or new to the practice; this series of six workshops offers a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences through the written word.
Located upstairs in the studio, the venue provides a calm, and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for fostering creativity and connection. So, grab your pen and notebook, and embark on a journey of self-discovery through the art of therapeutic writing.
Your journey
Workshop 1 – An Introduction to Creative & Therapeutic Writing - we will be taking a closer look at the ways in which this writing can be used for well-being and personal development. We will shed light on this genre and it's scholars, to inspire us for the journey ahead.
Workshop 2 – Journal Writing - we will experiment with its different forms and ways for self-expression. We will be highlighting, ‘The Artist's Way’ - one of Julia Cameron’s self-empowering books, on this topic.
Workshop 3 - Biblio-Poetry Therapy – using this expressive art therapy interactively to explore our own lives through selected, poetry therapy texts and exercises
Workshop 4 – Writing the Self – exploring the material of our personal experience and using it to create a piece of memoir writing – growing and shaping our writing and editing skills.
Workshop 5 – Writing Metaphor – experimenting in writing, with the mental pictures that illuminate our everyday lives can enable a deeper and more significant understanding of our lives. We will be working with the various techniques in this workshop.
Workshop 6 – Reflective Writing and Practice - What do we mean by Reflective Writing? How can we use this technique in our personal writing or for educational and professional development?
